In the present paper we have tried to achieve an innovative approach to issues that are discrimination in everyday life, analyzing how it has put its fingerprints on our society and all those who were hit by this existential problem.

In the first part of the work (theoretical), I stopped to terms of discrimination and racism, specifically on definitions and modes of their approach. I insisted on more concrete examples, considering the information in this area pretty little known by the psychologists, whilst knowledge related to discrimination and racism, because of their fundamental importance for psychology and social awareness, consider to be sufficiently well known.

For the practical part, I proposed to make an analysis of the views of my colleagues, better said, the representative examples for each of us in terms of discrimination and racism, working on examples in my work and filling them with examples, to which I participated directly or have only heard by chance. I'll show you, as will my best to clear the way in which people are both discriminating in our country and in other countries. Among those who are affected by such discrimination there are: women, people belonging to other ethnic groups, minorities, people who belong to certain music trends etc

I consider that the paper's arguments were unable to empirically and sufficiently clear that those who tend to discriminate a person by the way they dress, by their sex, or that after listening to a certain kind of music are not enough the educated to be able to say in society. Tolerance and understanding are two qualities that not every person own regardless of the degree of intelligence and its culture; they should be acquired over time. I addressed this theme of racism and discrimination because they are ubiquitous in our lives daily.

Discrimination and racism are ubiquitous elements in our lives and represents a favorite theme of most works of social psychology, sociology (not only). Moreover, we can not speak of social psychology without talking of discrimination and racism. Precisely because of this I will not dwell so much on the existing definitions or debate on the origin considering they are already know and so I will not go beyond the limited objectives of this good work. I will limit myself to reminding that the term discrimination is an exclusion or reduction of individuals to access certain resources. Law no. 324/2006 defines discrimination as "any distinction, exclusion, restriction or preference on the basis of race, nationality, ethnicity, language, religion, social class, belief, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, chronic disease, HIV infection , Belonging to a disadvantaged category, as well as any other criterion that has the purpose or effect of restricting, removing recognition, use or exercise, in conditions of equality, human rights and fundamental freedoms and rights recognized by law, in political, economic, social and cultural or any other areas of public life. "

Legislation, namely Law no. 324/2006 amending and supplementing Government Ordinance no. 137/2000 on preventing and sanctioning all forms of Discrimination and the Law. 340/2006 pt. and amended Law no. 202/2002 on equality between women and men regulate in a more complete field of discrimination, but to understand what is discrimination and to inform the population is in need of more activities involving civil society.

It seems as though despite the existence of laws and institutions to combat discrimination, and involving non-governmental organizations, Romania needs something different. We may need time to change mentalities. Or maybe there should be a "legally laid, the free legal assistance to certain disadvantaged, including victims of discrimination.

The term racism is defined as one of the worst forms of discrimination (especially in the United States) and is directly targeted groups of different breed. The Constitution of the United States included the legality of slavery; this is the highest form of discrimination. With the Proclamation of Liberation and other proclamations that followed the American Civil War, it was changed the legal status of Afro-Americans. One of the most important decisions taken is the adoption of an unconstitutional law to prohibit discrimination of race. Because of the absence of a sufficiently large number of laws, discrimination against black Americans has become possible.

The practice of discrimination has remained without an opponent, until 1941, when President Franklin Delano Roosevelt gave an order to prohibit discrimination in commitment. They began to make laws against discrimination in 1945. Until 1964, when the Civil Rights Act replaced in large part state laws, 25 states have banned the legal discrimination in the commitment and other 31 were laws against discrimination in public.

At the national level, a major coup against discrimination was the decision of the Supreme Court in May 1954, the intentional separation of children from other black students in public schools was declared as a violation of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution of the century. Because of the very strong opposition, Congress had to call the Civil Rights Act of 1957, but only the right to vote was aimed specifically. Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibited racism in most hotels, restaurants and other public facilities.

Asians Americans have suffered and they, in turn, discrimination. The most obvious action like this is the forced evacuation of Americans Japanese from the West Coast during the Second World War (1939-1945) - an event supported by the Supreme Court in 1944 but rejected by Congress many years later.
