1.Introduction
Today, the apparel industries start to use internet in trying to expand sales effectiveness to inform customers product information and availability.
Clothing has always been a basic necessity used by the humans to shield themselves from the ravages of time and weather. However with the advent of years the course of history witnessed a gradual change in both the utility as well as the usability of the apparels.From proclaiming the rank and social status of the individuals to symbolizing their feelings and exclusive taste. Clothes did it all. In words of Mark Twain “Clothes did it all”.
With the growing individualization and self awareness the need for personalized clothes has also been increasing. The customer’s demands have been rising exponentially where they want every bit of space without toiling to achieve it.
In pace with the changing consumer needs there had been dynamic developments in the global retail scenario during the past few decades.
The changing consumer buying habits have caused a major impact over the global retail industry. The gradual transitions from the traditional retail methodologies to the contemporary ones have affected more or less every form of business. ”Survival of the fittest” is what motivates the companies all around the globe to accept a dynamic shift in their business policies and incorporate radical changes just to stay competitive.
2. Conceptual research framework:the Bummat model.
We use the BUMMAT model (based on Järvelä & Tinnilä, 2000) to model different options for technology and channel choices for e-retailing. Some of these difficulties are more easily than others solved with technology, but as the cases will show, also many other issues are beyond technology.
