Famous monument in the world - Taj Mahal

I have chosen this subject because I love India and I hope to visit it one day , especially to see Taj Mahal , the wonderful monument , which is considered the 8th Wonder of the world.

India is a country to be discovered by an European , but he or she is also an object to be studied , it is the place where you can find the most hospitable and friendly people of Earth.

Time is measured and even flies differently : you can go aut at 3 o’clock in the night to drink juice with ice , you can start a conversation with a simple person , who cannot read , you can speak about life until 6 in the morning : you in English , he in Hindi and even understand each other.

Situated in the South of Asia , between Pakistan , China and Nepal ,India has the north border formed by the highest mountains , and the area from their bottom covering a large region in the north of the 26 states of the country. Towards south , the forests and the tropical desserts smoothly become beaches.

But the beauty of India does not consist only in its landscape. The extraordinary cultural divesity , being the result of a large number of religions, and

local traditions , offers the mistic atmosphere which attracts the tourists.

The Indian history begins 3200 years before Christ , when hinduism

appeared. The richness of this country has always attracted trade people

and foreign influences, each of them leaving their mark on places.

Modern India is the place where the past meets the present , the tribes

and sofisticated life of big cities.

Its antique monuments represent democracy and industrial developement has bought the country among the first 10 nations of the world.

India is a place of contrasts. While fishermen still build boats , using an old method of hundreds of years , a few kilometres away , cars are being built continuously .

Angra , the old capital of Mughal Empire , is one hour and a half away from New Delhi.

Taj Mahal means in Indian „ the Crown Palace” and it surely is the most beautiful monument of all times , a splendid tomb , praising eternal love.

The admiration for this monument is so strong that no language has words to describe it. Many people have tried along times to change the beauty of this miracle in words , from poets to presidents , but they had to admit that there are not equal words for an „alien” beauty.

As a matter of fact , contemporary world is said to be

divided in two : the ones who have seen Taj Mahal and the

ones who have not had the luck to see it.

Taj Mahal was built by Emperor Khurram , also named

Shah Jahan , for his beloved wife , Mumtaz Mahal .

Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan met by change in a Bazar ,

in 1607 and they married 5 years later.

She followed him ever since in all campaigns , being also counsellor and wife for him. She was said to be a legendary beauty.

In 1631 , after 18 months of Mogul being an emperor , Mumtaz Mahal died giving birth to their 14th child.

The death of his beloved wife made him so sad that , as the legend says , his hair and beard become white during one night only.

While she was alive , Mumtaz asked her husband to promise 4 things to her : to build Taj Mahal , to marry again after her death , to be kind with her children , and the last one to come each year to her tomb at their anniversary. He respected the first and the second promise.
