ABSTRACT
Title: To determine the impact of training and development upon employee performance within the UK hospitality sector: A study on Ritz.
The present study is based upon training and development and its impact on the employee's performance. Therefore, by applying a quantitative study and selecting 20 employees of Ritz, it has been identified that the majority of them are happy with the training session provided by the company. Also, it has been identified from the inferential statistics that there is no association between the variables. This, in turn, shows that the views of the selected participants may vary due to changes in training sessions. Because of this, it can be said that a company can improve its brand image and make people happy at work by putting together a good training session.
INTRODUCTION
Training and development are important aspects of HRM that the company uses to improve skills and performance. Mamy, Shabbir, and Hasan (2020) explained in their study that training sessions need to be included within the workplace to motivate employees to attain the defined goals. Further, the impact of using training and development sessions assists companies to improve their overall brand image and raise employee performance. In this competitive era, there is a need to improve personal as well as professional skills within a workplace so that an effective outcome can be generated. Along with this, it can be stated that the hospitality industry mainly conducts training sessions as per the needs of employee performance, such as leadership training, to prepare their employees to be leaders and improve workplace performance. In the same way, Sung and Choi (2018) found that effective training sessions give companies the chance to help employees improve their skills so that the company's goals can be met.
In addition to this, it can be stated that there are many challenges faced by the company while implementing training sessions. These include hiring the wrong trainer, which affects business performance, and the high cost of training that is sometimes not even fruitful. That is why it can be stated that when the company implements such a session, it needs to be ensured that all the aspects are met. The study is based upon the hospitality industry, in which Ritz, as a company, has chosen to deal in different areas to serve its customers the best.
The objectives of the study are as mentioned below:
- To identify the concept of training and development
- To ascertain the different methods used by the hospitality section regarding training and development,
- To analyze the relationship between the Ritz’s T & D session and employee performance.
- Recommend the best training session for Ritz that helps to improve employee performance.
